The Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) will celebrate its 81st founding anniversary on March 7-11, 2011 at the BAI Compound, Visayas Ave., Diliman, Quezon City.
With the theme, “Strengthening Private-Public Partnership: Key to Vibrant Livestock and Poultry Industries,” BAI will address government’s thrusts in promoting the growth of livestock and poultry industries through valuable partnerships with the private sector.
The five-day celebration highlights the presentation of Sectoral Strategic Action Plan in accordance to the “Agriculture and Fishery,” launching of the Philippine Native Animals Development Program and re-launching of BAI website.
Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala is the guest speaker during the opening ceremony on March 8 (Tuesday) at 9:00 AM.
Along with the founding anniversary, BAI is also observing the Rabies Awareness Month pursuant to Republic Act No. 9482 signed on May 25, 2007 to build public awareness on the prevention and control of rabies through education and vaccination.
Relative to this, the Animal Health Division will offer free rabies vaccination for cats and dogs (3 months old and above) and the Philippine Animal Health Center will officer free rabies laboratory diagnosis the whole month of March.
